Amelia Gorman Park

Gorman Park's staircase and pathways are closed due to destabilization of retaining walls. An engineering firm is developing a design for reconstruction this year (2019). Construction will begin the following year (2020). The upper plaza at Wadsworth Terrace remains open.

Astoria Park

Anticipated Completion: Spring 2020

The track at Astoria Park is currently closed for reconstruction as part of our Anchor Parks initiative to improve the quality of major parks across the city. While the track is under construction, we encourage you to join the New York Road Runners’ free weekly NYRR Open Run, which meets for walks and runs on Saturdays at 9:00 a.m. north of the parking lot, by the pool. Carl Schurz Park

Anticipated Completion: Winter 2019

The East River Walkway has been partially closed at 89th Street for safety precautions. We are working to reconstruct the site, and NYC Parks personnel will be posted at the site to ensure public safety.

Chelsea Recreation Center

Beginning on Monday, September 17, 2018, we will start to renovate and modernize the center’s pool and family locker rooms, as well as select restrooms, to enhance your overall facility and pool experience. Lower level bathrooms, family locker rooms and both men’s and women’s locker rooms will be closed beginning September 17, 2018 for approximately 18 months. While we will provide temporary lockers, locker space will be limited. It is important to note that programming schedules will be modified during this time. Flushing Meadows Corona Park

Fort Washington Park

The Fort Washington Pedestrian Bridge, or "Amtrak Bridge," at West 180th Street is open to the public. The width of the bridge has been narrowed for safety reasons. Bikers will be asked to dismount their bikes to cross the bridge. An active capital project will fully repair the outer support structures of the bridge and restore it to its original width. Gertrude Ederle Recreation Center

Hansborough Recreation Center

Beginning Sunday, May 12, 2019, the indoor pool will be closed as part of an ongoing project to renovate the pool, it is being drained to perform an extensive inspection of the pool basin. Access to the center will not be impacted due to this work. For your indoor pool needs, we encourage you to use NYC Parks’ other indoor pools in Manhattan and the Bronx. The three nearest NYC Parks facilities with indoor pools are Recreation Center 54, located at 348 East 54th Street in Manhattan, Gertrude Ederle Recreation Center, located at 232 West 60th Street in Manhattan, and St. Mary’s Recreation Center, located at 450 St. Ann’s Avenue in the Bronx. We thank you for your patience while we work to address and improve Hansborough Recreation Center. If you have additional questions, Center Management and facility staff can provide members with information on alternative sites, classes and Lap Swim hours. Last Chance Pond Park

Between 2018 Autumn and Spring 2021, the Department of Design and Construction (DDC) will be constructing stormwater best management practices and detention ponds within Last Chance Pond Park. Old Hickory Playground

Owen Dolen Recreation Center

Due to upcoming construction on the roof of Owen Dolen Recreation Center, the center will be closed to the public for approximately 18 months, starting on Monday, April 8, 2019. This work will address long-needed repairs and improvements. It will require extensive scaffolding along the exterior of the building; will require staging of building materials on the property; and will impact pick-up and drop-off at the recreation center. This work and related closure, will also impact summer camp at this location. We are committed to the needs of this Bronx community, and it is important to note that NYC Parks Summer Camp and general member-based access will be available to Owen Dolen Recreation Center members at nearby centers, including St. Mary's, St. James, Williamsbridge Oval, and Hunt's Point. Prospect Park

An electrical outage is affecting street lights along the East Drive as well as the Willink Comfort Station at the Empire Boulevard entrance to the park and the Carousel, which are not operating at this time. Prospect Park Alliance is working closely with the City to resolve this issue.

Putnam Trail

Anticipated Completion: Summer 2020

The Putnam Greenway Trail is currently closed for construction. For north-south access, runners and pedestrians can use the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail (enter at Mosholu Parkway & Van Cortlandt Park South), and bicyclists and pedestrians can use Broadway. Red Hook Recreation Area

NYC Parks is committed to making sure all parks are safe and healthy environments. Parks is continuing to work with EPA as they test the Redhook Ballfields for contamination. In the interim, we expect softball/baseball fields 5, 6, 7 and 8 will be closed until a clean-up plan is completed, and soccer fields 1, 2, 6 and 9 will be tested further.

Riverside Skate Park

Anticipated Completion: Spring 2020

Riverside Skate Park is closed to reconstruct the existing skate park with new skate elements, fencing, benches, picnic tables, and landscaping. Please visit the Capital Project Tracker page for updates on the project.

Rockaway Beach

On Friday, September 6 and Saturday, September 7, all City beaches will be closed to swimming and surfing, due to the dangerous conditions predicted as an effect of Hurricane Dorian. Parks lifeguards and enforcement staff will be posted along the coastline to enforce the swimming and surfing ban. Please adhere to all signage and instructions for your own safety.

Roy Wilkins Recreation Center

Anticipated Completion: Summer 2019

Roy Wilkins Recreation Center will be undergoing Capital improvements starting March 12, 2018. Upgrades include: a new roof over the gym, rebuilt activity rooms, and improved drainage and waterproofing in and around the building. Over the next 18 months, some programming spaces and some areas of the building will be closed to complete work. Please check this website regularly for closure details.

Squibb Park

Anticipated Completion: Summer 2020

Stapleton Playground

Starlight Park

Anticipated Completion: Fall 2019

Due to construction, the boat dock in Starlight Park is temporarily removed from the water and is not accessible. The dock will be restored in Fall 2019.

Starlight Park Zone 2

Due to construction of a new pedestrian bridge over the Bronx River, the portion of the river south of E. 174th St. and north of Westchester Avenue (Starlight Park) will be closed to paddling on most days during the period from June 2019-November 2019. Theodore Roosevelt Park

Anticipated Completion: Fall 2018

The north and southwest lawns at Theodore Roosevelt Park will be open through September 30 on a limited basis. Please check signage at the park for the latest schedule. No sports or barbecuing will be allowed at the site.

Tramway Plaza

Van Cortlandt Park

Due to construction at Broadway and West 242nd Street, the entrance near the subway is closed. Please access the park at the stairway adjacent to the public comfort station (Broadway & Manhattan College Parkway). There is an accessible entrance at the end of the block. The barbecuing area at Van Cortlandt Park has temporarily been moved behind the Nature Center. Please be aware that West Bronx Recreation Center is closed for a planned capital construction project and will remain closed until Fall 2019. During the closure, we encourage our recreation center members to use any of our other recreation centers citywide. Nearby recreation centers include Highbridge Recreation Center (2301 Amsterdam Avenue, Manhattan) or J. Hood Wright Recreation Center (351 Fort Washington Avenue, Manhattan).

Due to a major planned reconstruction project, Pier 1 at the World's Fair Marina is currently closed. Limited transient dockage is available for smaller recreational vessels - please contact the Dockmasters office at 718-478-0480 or VHF Ch71 for more information. There is no dockage available for larger vessels or commercial vessels, including passenger pick-up and drop-off. We apologize for any inconvenience. Zion Triangle

Zion Triangle is currently under construction through a joint DOT and DDC project. The monument and its surrounds will be restored. The projected completion date is November 2019, until then Zion Park Triangle will be closed.
